ENERGY: Soaring oil and gas prices boost Alberta’s exports
        (AlbertaIndex, August 25, Monday) --- The sharp increase in oil and gas prices has boosted export revenues for Canada’s Alberta province by 28% in June, to C$9.2 billion, compared with the same month last year. (US$1 = C$1.05).

        For the first half, Alberta’s exports rose by 31% to C$53 billion.

he contribution from Alberta enabled Canada’s June exports to rise 12.3% in exports to C$43.1 billion, helping to offset a weak manufacturing performance in the provinces of Ontario and Quebec.

Hydrocarbon-rich Alberta now ranks second in exports behind Ontario, despite its much smaller population base.

However, Alberta’s export success did not just come from its booming oil and gas sector. It also reported increased exports of agricultural products, forestry products, industrial goods, consumer goods and machinery and equipment.
