(AlbertaIndex, April 5) --- Speak up! Make known your views to the expert panel currently reviewing Alberta’s royalty and tax regime for energy resources. The provincial government said it has scheduled five public meetings and established a website, www.albertaroyaltyreview.ca, to gather input from interested Albertans and key stakeholders. The deadline for submissions is June 22. The Royalty Review Panel will host meetings beginning April 23 in Grande Prairie, followed by Edmonton, Calgary, Fort McMurray, and Medicine Hat. Those interested in making a presentation at one of the public meetings are encouraged to register in advance by calling (403) 297-8173, or go online at www.albertaroyaltyreview.ca. “The panel is committed to conducting a thorough and independent examination of Alberta’s royalty structure to ensure the system is meeting the needs of Albertans,” said Bill Hunter, Royalty Review Panel Chairman. “The views of Albertans are an important part of the review process. We look forward to meeting and hearing from all interested Albertans as part of developing recommendations, which will be submitted to the Minister of Finance by August 31.” In February 2007, the government announced an independent review of Alberta’s royalty and tax regime. The Royalty Review Panel will make recommendations for government’s consideration. The feedback meetings will be held at: Grande Prairie, April 23 - 25 Quality Hotel and Conference Centre 11201 - 100 Avenue Edmonton, May 14 - 16 Delta South Edmonton Hotel and Convention Centre 4404 Gateway Boulevard Calgary, May 22 - 24 Radisson Hotel Calgary Airport 2120 - 16th Avenue NE Fort McMurray, June 4 - 6 Oilsands Discovery Centre 515 MacKenzie Boulevard Medicine Hat, June 18 - 20 |
