(AlbertaIndex, March 5, Wednesday) --- The Alberta business community last week recognized and rewarded its own for excellence and achievements at a ceremony in Calgary attended by Premier Ed Stelmach. Premier Stelmach was on hand to present prizes to the winners of the 17th annual Alberta Business Awards of Distinction. The Innovation in Agriculture Award of Distinction was presented to Doug Edgar Farms of Innisfail, which has developed the largest asparagus farm in Alberta. The Employer of Youth Award of Distinction, sponsored by Alberta Employment, Immigration and Industry, went to Bubbles Car Wash of Calgary, which has a focus on hiring and mentoring young people. The winners of the other Alberta Business Awards of Distinction are as follows: KB Jodan, Cold Lake, Aboriginal Woman Entrepreneur Award of Distinction; Hotrocket, Edmonton, Marketing Award of Distinction; Youth Emergency Shelter Society, Edmonton, Diversity Leadership Award of Distinction; Elluminate Inc, Calgary, Export Award of Distinction; Worldwide Matrix Inc, Grande Prairie and Norwood Foundry Limited, Nisku, Health and Safety Innovation Award of Distinction; Albi Homes Ltd., Calgary, Health and Safety Leader Award of Distinction; NAIT, Edmonton, Partners in Workplace Learning Award of Distinction; Company’s Coming Publishing Limited, Edmonton, Employer of Persons with Disabilities Award of Distinction; Birch Mountain Enterprises, Fort McKay, Aboriginal Youth Entrepreneur Award of Distinction; Primco Dene Group of Companies, Cold Lake, Eagle Feather Business Award of Distinction; Enbridge, Calgary, Aboriginal Relations; and Scott Safety Supply Services Ltd, Whitecourt, Small Business Award of Distinction The awards are hosted by the Alberta Chambers of Commerce in association with numerous corporate sponsors. |
