CONFERENCE: World Heavy Oil Congress in Edmonton on March 10-12
        (AlbertaIndex, January 10, Thursday) --- World Heavy Oil Congress, an international technical and business conference and exhibition focused on the heavy oil industry, will be held in Edmonton, Canada from March 10 to 12. The event is expected to attract over 800 delegates from the industry.
        The first World Heavy Oil Congress was held in Beijing, China in November 2006. The event, attended by more than 700 delegates, discussed the importance of marketing heavy oil to world markets to satisfy surging energy demand.

The business conference on March 10 and 11 will be chaired by Shell International Exploration & Production BV’s vice-president John Barry and co-chaired by China National Petroleum Corporation’s vice-president Zhang Xin.

Speakers will focus on the challenges of managing and developing projects in the face of tight capital, labour and raw materials supply, and rising environmental costs.

Two of the key speakers include Nexen Inc president and CEO Charlie Fischer, and Suncor Energy Inc president and CEO Rick George.

The congress technical conference, on March 11 and 12, will be chaired by KC Yeung of Suncor Energy Inc. The conference will tackle technical issues in the upstream and midstream of unconventional oil development, providing delegates with the latest information on technological advancements.

The exhibition will feature internationally-recognised companies including Shell, TOTAL, Suncor, Schlumberger, Halliburton, Weatherford, CNPC, PDVSA, ConocoPhillips, Worley Parsons, Baker Hughes, Tyco, KUDU Industries, Streamflo, Wika and Grenco.
