| POLL: Only one of four think Alberta government will wisely use extra oil royalties |
|
(AlbertaIndex, December 5, Wednesday) --- Only one quarter of the respondents to our poll think the Alberta government will spend the estimated additional $1.4 billion in oil royalties wisely. In the poll from November 4 to December 5, we asked Albertans if they thought the provincial government would wisely use the extra money to be raised from its controversial new oil and gas tax regime from 2010. A total of 32 votes were cast. More than 34% or 11 votes said the government will spend the money on frivolous projects and as rewards for friends of politicians. Only a quarter agreed with the answer, “Yes, it will need all that money to build new infrastructure and provide services to the people.” |
