(AlbertaIndex, September 11, Tuesday) --- David Coutts, MLA Livingstone-Macleod, is representing the government of Alberta at the annual US meeting of the Canadian/American Border Trade Alliance in Washington D.C. this week.
He delivered a keynote address providing an overview of Alberta’s oil sands. The CanAm Border Trade Alliance is a grassroots organization of public and private sector organizations and individuals involved in US-Canadian trade and tourism. About 90 per cent of Alberta’s total exports, or more than $75 billion in goods and services, cross the border to the U.S. annually. “The conference is an important forum where we can promote Alberta’s views on transboundary issues,” said Guy Boutilier, Minister of Alberta International, Intergovernmental and Aboriginal Relations. “The US is our largest and most important trading partner and it is crucial that we work closely with our American neighbours to ensure secure and enhanced market access for Alberta’s exports.” |
