ENERGY: Alberta MLA Oberle in Beijing to discuss energy and trade with China

(AlbertaIndex, August 2, Thursday) --- An Alberta MLA is in Beijing, China to discuss energy and trade matters with Chinese experts at the Energy Council’s China North American Energy Dialogue meeting from July 27 to August 3.

Frank Oberle, MLA for Peace River, is with energy representatives from across North America and China to highlight each region’s energy interests, including resources, production levels and infrastructure.

The meeting will also provide an opportunity for Alberta to strengthen its energy-related trade relationship with China, which was Alberta’s second-largest trading partner in 2005.
Alberta is seen as a world energy leader and countries from around the globe want to know more about our energy resources and regulatory systems,” Oberle said. “Building stronger ties to China encourages greater investment and technology opportunities.”
The Energy Council is an organization of US state legislators appointed from 10 US energy-producing states that focus on energy and environment-related policies. The council also has international affiliates that include Alberta, British Columbia, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Saskatchewan and Venezuela.
