(AlbertaIndex, June 19, Tuesday) --- ENMAX Energy Corporation and the Calgary Zoo will jointly develop the new ENMAX Conservatory, a showcase for innovative and environmentally-friendly energy technology. The new facility will show visitors the benefits of lifestyle and energy provision choices that will reduce their personal ecological footprint. The exhibit will also feature interactive displays that illustrate alternative and emerging sources of sustainable energy and promote development practices for the city of Calgary that exemplify responsible environment management.ENMAX President & CEO Gary Holden said: “Provincial and municipal governments, as well as corporate sponsors and individuals, are providing essential support in bringing this important project to life and we are very pleased to be working with them. “We are committed to exploring and bringing new energy alternatives to market. The ENMAX Conservatory will showcase a growing number of energy choices that consumers will have available to them and will help them make informed decisions about their energy options.” The conservatory, incorporating at least five alternate sources of energy, will become a living classroom for the more than 30,000 Calgary school children who participate in school programs at the Zoo and the more than 1.2 million people who visit the Zoo annually. A highlight of the project, already on site, is the only working wind turbine within the city. Officials from ENMAX, the Calgary Zoo, the city and Alberta Environment held a news conference at the Calgary Zoo last week to provide details of the project. |
