ENERGY: CIBC predicts Americans will pull 10 million vehicles off roads by 2012
       (AlbertaIndex, June 30, Monday) --- One of the oil market’s best forecasters, CIBC World Markets, has issued another gloomy prediction, with gasoline hitting US$7 per gallon as impoverished Americans withdraw 10 million vehicles off the roads by 2012.
 
COMMUNITY: Fort McMurray to get 40,000 new homes and a five-lane bridge
        (AlbertaIndex, June 27, Friday) --- Relief is on the way for infrastructure-challenged Fort McMurray following the Alberta government’s decision to approve the construction of new homes and facilities for 40,000 people, and a $127-million five-lane bridge.
 
ECONOMY: Alberta’s Heritage Fund at record $17 billion
        (AlbertaIndex, June 26, Thursday) --- Alberta last year stashed away another $463 million to grow its Heritage Savings Trust Fund to a record high of $17 billion in its 32-year history. Last year’s contribution consisted of $918 million in deposits and $466 million for inflation proofing that was offsetting by a $921 million decline in unrealized capital gains.

CRIME: Victims to receive monthly financial benefits

ENERGY: With nearly 62,000 registered visitors, Global Petroleum Show 2008 sets record attendance
      (AlbertaIndex, June 19, Thursday) --- Global Petroleum Show (GPS) 2008 set a record breaking attendance with nearly 62,000 registered attendees, making it the most attended GPS in the show’s 40-year history. About 100 countries were represented at the event which attracted more than 2,000 exhibiting companies.
 
ECONOMY: Alberta cools, but will still lead Canada in 2008, says think tank
        (AlbertaIndex, June 18, Wednesday) --- Alberta’s economy may be cooling off from years of red-hot growth, but at 3.1% this year and 3.2% in 2009, will still outpace the rest of the country, predicts Canada West Foundation.
