            (AlbertaIndex, May 28, Monday) --- Immigration has tended to lower wages in both Canada and the US, according to a new Statistics Canada study. The impact of immigrants on the wages of domestic workers also depends to a large extent on the skill mix of the newcomers.

            (AlbertaIndex, May 24, Thursday) --- If major oil companies balk at paying higher royalty rates on oil sands projects, then the Alberta government should consider developing the resource themselves by working in equity partnerships with more cooperative companies, says Gil McGowan, President of the Alberta Federation of Labour.
